Miami and Erie Canal Deep Cut is on the west side of State Route 66 a couple miles south of Spencerville Ohio which is 11 or 12 miles north of St. Marys Ohio.   It is  the water shed crest dividing the St. Marys, and Auglaize rivers. Route 66 has small berms and fast paced traffic.

The still functioning Miami and Erie Canal aqueduct is about 3 miles to the south on the east side of the S.R. 66 and about 8 to 10 miles north of St. Marys Oh.

About 2 miles south of Deep Cut is the Bloody Bridge marker on the east side of S.R. 66 a few feet north of County Rd. 182. (County Wide Services Transfer is on the west side of S.R. 66 at C.R. 182.)

Further south on S.R. 66 in downtown St. Marys, is Memorial Park, which is located at the south side of the bridge over the Saint Marys River.   A covered bridge is also located in the park along with a full size canal boat and historical markers.

One full city block to the north of Memorial Park is High St. On High St. just east of Front St. is a stone drive leading down to a parking lot.  At the north end of the stone parking lot is a hiking trail along the Miami and Erie Canal.

A side trip along S.R. 364 on the east side of Grand Lake St. Marys is a canal lock between the lake and the feeder canal.  The lock once supplied water to the Miami and Erie Canal. (see "Lake and Canal tour".)

Visit the "Southern Tour" which ends with an area sensitive map linked to outside web sites where various canal locks, and/or canal boats may be visited.
